FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 3-12-2005

Better

David M. Walker is Comptroller General of the United States, the head of the General Accounting Office. He is the chief auditor of all federal programs and activities and is responsible for finding problems in the receipt and disbursement of public funds. Back when there was a budget surplus, he warned the Congress to be prudent with the projected budget surplus and to prepare for deficits that could become unmanageable. He proposed reforms to entitlement programs and other spending. Needless to say. the Bushies have trashed his prudent vision and created the biggest deficits in USA history, caused primarily by tax cuts aimed predominately at the richest few and by ballooning spending to finance a self-created war and to finance Ugly American empire-building. For trying to prevent the current wave of corrupt and disasterous overspending by an out-of-control Executive/Congress, David M. Walker has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
