Glenn Fine is Inspector General of the U.S. Justice Department. He became Acting Inspector General August 2000 and became Inspector General December 2000. He has done an excellent job with respect to the aftermath of the 9/11/01 attacks and has analyzed deficiencies in FBI investigations and in detainments after the attacks. He found much detainee mistreatment and many unjustified delays in INS and FBI actions due to lack of proper personell, skewed procedures and insufficient priorities. Misinformation and misdirection were epidemic. In December 2003 he released a report detailing 9/11-related mistreatment of prisoners held at a federal jail in Brooklyn, NY and he recommended discipline of ten prison employees for verbal and physical abuse and for improperly recording detainee/lawyer meetings (more than 300 videotapes were discovered). Glenn Fine has taken numerous other actions to help improve the INS and the FBI. For exposing numerous defects in the Federal Justice System and for detailing the reforms needed, Glenn Fine has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
