David J. Graham is an MD, MPH and Associate Director of the Office of Drug Safety at the US Food and Drug Administration. He blew the whistle on the corruption at the FDA which placed a higher value on drug corporation profits than on the safety of certain prescription drugs. This corruption over the years has caused many injuries and deaths to patients. As the system now exists, the American public is almost defenseless against drug side effects that cripple or kill until the situation gets so obviously widespread that the specific drug is removed from the market as happened in September with Vioxx. Dr. Graham knows of at least five other drugs where serious safety risks are not being adequately addressed by the FDA. Dr. Graham's testimony was validated by the editors of the Journal of the American Medical Association. To put it bluntly, pressure and money from drug corporations has killed a lot of people and continues to kill people until the FDA is thoroughly reformed.
