FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 12-4-2004

Dr. Mordechai Vanunu was jailed for 18 years in Israel for blowing the whistle on Israel's secret nuclear weapons program. He was in solitary confinement most of the time. This is a classic example of inhumane abuse of a nonviolent person by violent government criminals. He was abducted in Italy, drugged and sent to Israel on a cargo vessel. He was convicted in a closed-door trial and denied parole or probation. Amnesty International said his treatment was cruel, inhumane and degrading. He was eventually released under severe restrictions. Mordechai knows that if the system is a big monster then everyone who helps the system is a little monster and that is how society can become a big monster filled with compliant and deadly little monsters. He found the truth and gave the truth to the world and turned himself from a little monster into a great beacon of truth. What more can anyone do than to tell the truth and save the world? Arise oh little monsters everywhere: tell the truth and we can all survive. Blow whistles and survive in freedom. For making it quite clear to the whole world that Israel is run by criminal torturers and criminal killers instead of decent democrats, Dr. Mordechai Vanunu has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
