Daniel Ellsberg is the former Defense Department analyst who released the Pentagon Papers to the news media which helped end the Vietnam war; who was arrested 60+ times for civil disobedience; who lectured and spoke extensively against interventionist wars; who wrote Secrets: A Memoir of Vietnam and the Pentagon Papers and who founded The Truth-Telling Project which encourages whistleblowing in the national interest. He continues speaking out on tour to reveal the lies, coverups and abuses of the Bush administrtion. He knows quite clearly the bad results of bombing, invading and occupying a nation that has not attacked the USA. He knows the bad results caused by administrations which lie to, propagandize and injure their own citizens and "enemy" citizens in an unjust war. He knows that terrorism is enhanced by such wars instead of being diminished by them. For pushing the envelope of whistleblowing and other truth-telling in an atmosphere of lies, propaganda, torture, deception and exaggerated violence, Daniel Ellsberg has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
