Amy Goodman is the host of Democracy Now! with co-host Juan Gonzalez, the award-winning independent radio news since 1996. It is broadcast on over 200 Pacifica, National Public Radio and community radio stations, public access and PBS television stations, satellite television, and and on the internet. Amy Goodman's investigative reporting has won many honors including the George Polk Award, the Robert F. Kennedy Prize for International Reporting and the Alfred I. duPont Columbia Award. Amy Goodman's new book (written with her brother David), is The Exception To The Rulers. Democracy Now! does fearless and accurate reporting of events ignored or distorted by big USA corporate media and interviews important people that big media tends to ignore. Amy Goodman's basic approach is to "Go where the silence is and say something." She has been to East Timor, Yugoslavia, Haiti, Cuba, occupied Palestine and Mexico. She was badly beaten in East Timor and journalist Alan Naim who was with her had his skull fractured.
