FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 6-12-2004

Bruce Buckheit worked in the administration and enforcement of the New Source Review provisions of he Clean Air Act for about 20 years and became Director of the EPA's Air Enforcement Division. The Division identified and prosecuted the worst air polluters, mostly coal-fired power plants. The Division had a process of providing for economic growth while maintaining and improving air quality. Bush's "reforms" sabotaged air quality which increased deaths and injuries caused by polluted air. Since Bruce Buckheit had an active and splendid conscience, he was forced to resign and otherwise protest this sabotage of the people's health in order to increase corporate profits for the wealthy few. For vigorously protesting the deterioration of the Environmental Protection Agency and the deterioration of the people's health caused by corrupt Bushies, Bruce Buckheit has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
