FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 5-8-2004

Kathleen Blanco is the Governor of Louisianna, its first woman governor. Her program as Governor is to provide affordable and accessable health care, improve education opportunities for all, improve the economy, create better jobs, improve roads and highways, rebuild the coastline, protect farmers, protect the environment and lift up families/children. She was a two-term Lieutenant Governor (She won 80 % of the vote for 2nd term). She was the first woman to represent Lafayette in the state Legislature. She was the first woman Public Service Commissioner and the first woman to chair the Commission. She was a high school teacher and is the mother of six children. For being the brightest hope for progressive change in Louisianna in recent history, Kathleen Blanco has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
