Nestor Kirchner is the new President of Argentina who took office May 25. He successfully negotiated better debt terms recently for the large Argentine debt load. He is a populist who is well-liked by most of the people of Argentina. He belongs to the Peronist Party and was Governor of Santa Cruz, an oil-rich and sheep-rich province of Patagonia. The previous President's privitization schemes crippled an already sagging economy. With half of his country living in poverty, he has a giant mess to straighten out. For genuinely believing in government of the people, by the people and for the people and for doing his best to restore Argentina to it's former glory, Nestor Kirchner has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
