Susan Sontag has written four novels, a collection of short stories, two plays and six works of nonfiction. Her stories and essays have appeared in numerous magazines. She has written and directed four feature-length films and has directed many plays. She is a major human rights activist and was president of the American Center of PEN, the international writers organization which furthers freedom of expression and advancement of literature. She led many campaigns to help persecuted and imprisoned writers. She has received numerous honors and awards. Nine of her books are now available. She has high intellect, excellent writing skills, superb moral values, vibrant energy, exploratory zeal and an intimate contact with reality. She has won the German book trade's prestigious 2003 peace prize for defending free thought. She clearly knows that the USA 2-party system has deeply degerated into a sham and dissent desperately needs to grow in the USA if democracy is to survive.
