FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 7-26-2003

Better

Richard Ellis is the author of The Empty Ocean: Plundering the World's Marine Life. He knows that human resources/technologies/pollutions/overpopulations/consumptions can reduce/endanger so many ocean species that it would be an ecological catastrophe of global proportions. Human catching/killing enterprises have become so successful and massive that global regulation of killing commerce is vital to prevent massive species die-offs. The fishing industry, for the most part, is criminally shortsighted and criminally negligent, especially the giant corporate hogs. Most governments have been bribed to be criminally negligent, also. We need to greatly expand "no fish" zones so that fishing can become sustainable throughout the world. The human race needs to become a sustainable asset to the world instead of being a deadly liability. Richard Ellis is a prolific writer and artist. For contributing greatly to our understanding of ocean life and for helping save ocean life, Richard Ellis has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
