Vandana Shiva founded and directs Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology. She also founded Navdanga which promotes diversity and use of native seeds. She lives in Uttar Pradesh, India and is a physicist, ecologist, activist, editor and author of many books. She wrote Biopiracy: The Plunder of Nature and Knowledge and she wrote Water Wars: Privatization, Pollution and Profit. She also wrote Stolen Harvest: The Hijacking of the Global Food Supply. She has written over 300 papers in leading scientific and technical journals. Her gender activism is nationally and internationally recognized. She initiated an international movement called Diverse Women for Diversity. She has been a visiting professor lecturing at many Universities and Colleges. She has served as an advisor to governments and Non-Governmental Organizations. She has received numerous well-deserved awards. She also works with communities to stop threats to forests and agricultural land. For working tirelessly to save Earth's biosphere and to promote real democracy and community, Vandana Shiva has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
