FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 6-7-2003

Mercedes (Meche) Lu is a Peruvian E-Law Science Circuit Rider for Latin America, a biochemist and a Pharmacist. She collaberates with advocates in Latin America to help protect citizens from industrial pollution, oil exploitation/pollution, mining polution, leaded gas pollution and toxic pesticides. She works with grassroots lawyers; assesses their scientific support needs and helps locals build their scientific resources. She helps farmers, indigenous peoples and others protect themselves from pesticides and other toxic materials and helps them to receive compensation from polluters and dam builders. For greatly helping Latin Americans deal with with environmental degredation, Mercedes (Meche) Lu has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
