Svitlana Kravchenko is the University of Oregon 2002-2004 Carlton and Wilberta Savage Visiting Professor in International Relations and Peace, where she directs the Human Rights for All program. She founded Ecopravo-Lviv which is one of the first two public-interest environmental law organizations in the newly independent states of the former Soviet Union. She is president of Ecopravo-Lviv and E-LAW Ukraine; helping build an environmentally-sustaining economy. She has taught environmental law for 25 years and lectured in over 20 countries. She wrote a detailed description of environmental rights under the Aarhus Convention (Denmark 1998). She is a representative of Eastern Europe in international environmental negotiations. She has authored and co-authored several works explaining international treaties and conventions. She is Vice-Chair for Eastern Europe in the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Commission on Environmental Law. She is teaching Environmental Rights and Democracy. For being the leading personality on environmental studies/improvements in Eastern Europe and a leader in global environmental studies/improvements/human rights, Svitlana Kravchenko has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
