FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 4-5-2003

Robin Cook is the UK Foreign Secretary who resigned because he could not support the preemptive war on Iraq without the support and endorsement of the United Nations and without the support and endorsement of most UK citizens. He knows that it is wrong to have one rule for allies like Israel and a different rule for all the other Middle East countries which are mostly Muslim. He does not share Washington's view that regime change through war is just. He does not agree with the Bush Agenda. He was leader of the House Commons; is responsible for parliamentary reform and has the highest ethical standards. For doing the right thing for the future of the UK, for the future of Europe and for the future of the world community, Robin Cook has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
