FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 3-1-2003

Better

Ruth Ozeki is a film maker and a novelist. She is excellent in both categories. Body of Correspondence won in the New Visions category of the San Francisco Film Festival 1995 and was shown on PBS. Halving the Bones aired at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, was shown on PBS and on many other venues. Her first novel, My Year of Meats is widely read. She is working on another film/book and her new novel All Over Creation will be out March 2003. Her characters are true-to-life jewels. She documents food safety, hormone and antibiotic problems with the meat industry and with meat eating. She also covers other problems: spousal abuse, eating disorders, unsafe sex, women's roles, stereotypes, racism, relationships, artistic freedom, genetic engineering, politics, media misrepresentation, etc. For bringing corporate and other living problems vividly into our consciousness and conscience, Ruth Ozeki has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
