FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 2-22-2003

Better

Hashem Aghajari is a prominent Iranian academic and political activist. He was sentenced to death (hanging) for calling for political reform which shows how immoral the hardliners are and how anxious they are to preserve their political dictatorship. His death sentence was for "apostacy" which is, in essence, thinking for oneself and for one's people instead of kowtowing to a brainwasher. This unjust sentence was naturally met with outrage from the decent people of Iran and from the rest of the world. Fortunately, on February 14, Iran's Supreme Court overturned the death sentence on Hashem Aghajari but some hardliners want to execute him despite what the Supreme Court says. Stay tuned. For speaking the truth of real democracy to unjust power, Hashem Aghajari has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
