FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 11-30-2002

Better

Jimmy Carter is the 39th President of the United States, the winner of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, the steward of the Panama Canal treaties, the steward of the Camp David Accords and the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, the steward of the Salt II treaty with the Soviet Union, the steward of establishing US diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, a champion of global human rights, a steward of a comprehensive energy program, a steward of major educational programs, a steward of major environmental protections, an author of 16 books, a University Distinguished Professor, the founder of the Carter Center, a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and an excellent family man. His post-presidential actvities are the most distinguished and the most effective in the fields of peace, human rights and human well-being of any president of the 20th century. He knows better than anyone else that the current trend toward fascist aggression, dominion and secrecy in the world must be stopped and be replaced by a trend toward real democracy if human civilization is to survive in decency. For working toward a peaceful real democracy with real justice, real human rights, real voting, real campaign finance reform and real survival, President Jimmy Carter has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
