FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 9-28-2002

Judge Gladys Kessler serves on the United States Court for the District of Columbia and serves on the Executive Committee on the ABA's Conference of Federal Trial Judges and on the U.S. Judicial Conference's Committee on Court Administration and Management. She has said that secret arrests are odious to a democratic society. She issued a landmark opinion in April which protects activists who sue the government from government harrassment and reprisal. Her ruling protects nonviolent protestors from antidemocratic government activity by the Attorney General and others. For knowing what real democracy is all about and for protecting the rights of real democrats from the slings and arrows of outrageous antidemocratic government officials, Judge Gladys Kessler has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
