Juan Gonzalez is a staff columnist/reporter for the New York Daily News; was co-host of Democracy Now! on the Pacifica Radio Network (before resigning in protest of the undemocratic takeover of the Pacifica Radio Network) and is the author of Fallout: The Environmental Consequences of the World Trade Center Collapse, a book published by The New Press. He also wrote Harvest of America: A History of Latinos in America, Roll Down Your Window: Stories of a Forgotten America and pieces for the NY Daily News about the toxic fallout. The right wing illegally took over the Pacifica Radio Network just as they illegally took over the USA Presidency. Fallout... details how EPA head Christie Whitman, Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and others systematically understated the fallout New York City suffered as a result of the 9/11 attack. This irresponsible propaganda caused and is still causing people who need medical help and advice to receive less medical care than they need, resulting in increased toxic deaths from 9/11 over time. The biggest single toxic in the fallout is probably asbestos dust. It is probable that more people will die as a result of the long-term toxic legacy than the 3000 or so that died in NYC on 9/11.
