Gregory Wilpert is a former US Fulbright scholar in Venezuela who now does independent research in the sociology of development. He also has done extensive reporting on the April coup in Venezuela (he predicted it) and on the counter coup and on other aspects of Venezuelan politics. He writes from an excellent progressive point of view. For expanding the envelope of sociology in Latin America and for reporting the eyewitness truth and the intellectual truth about Latin and North American politics/economics, Gregory Wilpert has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
