Amos Oz is the author of numerous excellent novels and other books. He has written hundreds of articles and essays. He is actively involved in the Israeli peace movement and is one of the leading figures of "Peace Now" since its founding in 1977. He is a full professor at Ben Gurian University. He has been campaigning for mutual recognition and peaceful coexistance between the Israeli state and a fully independent Palestinian state. He has won many awards and prizes. His best-known novel "My Michael" has been published in numerous languages and was made into a film. For writing many excellent and insightful novels and other works and for working toward peace in the Middle East, Amos Oz has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
