FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 2-2-2002

Tahmeena Faryal is representative of the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA). RAWA is a feminist organization which wants equal participation of women with men in all the political, economic and social aspects of Afghanistan. They know that only a true secular democracy with no ties to any fundamentalist group can achieve this truly revolutionary goal. If this goal can be achieved in the extreme patriarchal fundamentalist conditions that exist in today's Afghanistan, it can be achieved anywhere. And it must be achieved everywhere if the human race is to survive the slings and arrows of outrageous patriarchal warfare which is so prevalent throughout the world. Survival and peace both demand an end to macho stupidity including an end to the most stupid macho activity of all: war.
