Tsitsi Dangaremba is a Zimbabwean who wrote the first novel
to be published in English by a black Zimbabwean woman. She is
also a movie maker, a short story writer and a playwright. She
has won many prizes and is especially adept in delineating the
debilitating effects of poverty. She was educated in Africa and
in Britain. Her novel, Nervous Conditions, is properly infused
with anti-colonial feminism. Her film, Everyone's Child, is
properly infused with compassion and it calls for humane action.
It is the first feature film directed by a black Zimbabwean woman.
For having great insight into cultural forces, for improving the
conditions of life for today's women and children and for
detailing the character of today's and tomorrow's enlightened
feminism, Tsitsi Dangaremba has been named Futuresaver of the
Week. Click the links below for more information.
