Congressman John Lewis of Georgia's 5th district has an
excellent environmental score, according to the League of
Conservation Voters. He is a Chief Deputy Democratic Whip,
belongs to the Democratic Steering Committee, is a member of the
Congressional Black Caucus, a member of the Progressive Congress,
a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means and serves on
its Subcommittees of Health and Oversite. He was the Chairman of
the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and otherwise
served with distinction for over 40 years in the Civil Rights
Movement and in other progressive social movements. He has an
impressive progressive record in all aspects of governance. For
doing the right thing for all of us and for the Earth's
biosphere, John Lewis has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
