US Senator Debbie Stabenow from Michigan was elected in
2000 and is the first Michigan woman elected to the US Senate.
She is a member of the Budget Committee; the Banking, Housing and
Urban Affairs Committee and its Special Committee on Aging; and
the Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee. She also
serves on five Subcommittees. She has an impressive progressive
record on education, fiscal responsibility, middle class tax
relief, preservation of natural resources, affordable
prescription drugs, Social Security, Medicare, families, small
business, health care, agriculture, women's issues, veteran's
issues, banking reform, oil drilling, Patients Bill of Rights,
consumers, transportation, fair taxes, campaign finance reform,
judicial nomenations, public housing, environmental issues, civil
