Congressman Tom Lantos of California's 12th district has a 93% environmental score for 2000, according to the League of Conservation Voters. He is Co-Chairman of the Congressional Human Rights Caucus and a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. He is the 2nd ranking Democrat on the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee and a member of its Energy Policy, Natural Resources and Regulatory Policy Subcommittee and a member of its National Security, Veteran's Affairs and International Relations Subcommittee. He is the ranking Democrat on the House International Relations Committee. In addition to his good record on the environment, he has an impressive progressive record on human rights, transportation, IRS reform, fair taxes, balanced budget, minimum wage, labor, health care, Social Security, Medicare, foreign policy, civil rights, campaign finance reform, education, day care, affordable prescription drugs, women's issues, children's issues, brutality and violence, East Timor, Conflict Diamonds, sex slavery and on many other issues.
