Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas' 30th district
is one of the 14 House members (out of 435) who challenged the
Florida electors. The others of the brave 14 are: Corrine Brown,
Eva Clayton, Elijah Cummings, Peter Deutsch, Bob Filner, Alcee
Hastings, Jesse Jackson Jr, Shiela Jackson-Lee, Cynthia McKinney,
Carrie Meek, Patsy Mink, Barbara Lee and Maxine Waters. These 14
are the most patriotic (in the truest sense of the word) members
of the US House and the US Senate (of the 535 total members of
both Houses) for they are the ones who most grieve the
decapitation of American Democracy and they are the members who
are least corrupted by big money. Not one US Senator is as brave
as any one of these 14. The majority of these brave 14 are women
which indicates that my thesis (the average woman is braver and
more compassionate than the average man) is correct. All 14 have
been made (or will soon be made) Futuresavers. In addition to
being a member of the heroic 14, Eddie Bernice Johnson has an
impressive progressive record on the environment, health care,
Medicare, Social Security, education, trade, Medicaid,
telecommunications, tax fairness, human rights, civil rights,
affordable prescription drugs, safety, affordable housing,
children's issues, veteran's rights, racial profiling, hate
crimes, seniors, transportation, science, census, labor and on
many other issues. For being one of the 14 most heroic
legislators on the national scene and for otherwise doing the
right thing for all of us, Eddie Bernice Johnson has been named
