Isabel Allende is a writer of superluminal perception and
compassion whose works have been translated into about 30
languages. She is a feminist in the best meanings of the word, a
future-leaning political activist, an organizer of and
contributor to compassionate causes and an owner of an exquisite
sense of humor. She has received numerous awards and prizes for
her many novels, short stories and other works. Her
democratically-elected uncle (President Salvadore Allende of
Chile) was assassinated in 1973 by a military coup requested by
the US Government headed by the notorious criminals Richard Nixon
and Henry Kissinger. For providing a spellbinding window into the
