Jane Alexander was Chairman of the National Endowment for
the Arts from 1993 - 1997. She was nominated by President
Clinton, unanimously confirmed by the Senate and sworn into
office by Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Conner. She
performed her duties with great excellence and intelligence in
all 50 states and Puerto Rico. She received numerous awards for
bringing the arts to the American people. She is a great speaker.
She has been active in the arts for all of her adult life and has
won numerous awards as an actress, producer, author and narrator.
She served as an effective and articulate advocate for numerous
worthwhile causes. For greatly advancing the causes of the arts,
the environment, peace, freedom and related humanistic endeavors,
