Congressman Martin Meehan of Massachusetts' 5th district has a 100% environmental score for 1999, according to the League of Conservation Voters. He is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and of its Subcommittees on Military Research and Development and on Military Personnel and is ranking member of its Special Panel on Morale, Welfare and Recreation. He is also a member of the House Committee on Judiciary and of its Subcommittees on Crime and on Immigration and Claims. In addition to his recent sterling environmental record, he has an impressive progressive record on Medicare and adding prescription drug coverage, children's issues, women's issues, immigrants, campaign finance reform, tobacco, balanced budget, Social Security, health issues, sustainable development, education, senior's issues, labor issues, affordable housing, affordable health insurance, racism, small business, agriculture, transportation, human rights, discrimination, harrassment, pension plan reform, gun control, animal protection, drugs, childcare, homelessness, affordable prescrition drugs and on many other issues.
