Congressman Thomas Barrett of Wisconsin's 5th district has
a 100% environmental score for 1999, according to the League of
Conservation Voters. He is a member of the House Committee on
Commerce, a member of the Commerce Committee Democrats, a member
of the Subcommittee on Finance and Hazardous Materials and a
member of the Subcommittee on Health and Environment. In addition
to his recent sterling environmental record, he has an impressive
progressive record on health care, guns, child care, education,
labor issues, drug issues, banking reform, fiscal responsibility,
affordable prescription drugs, social security, medicare,
homeless veterans, low power radio, civil rights, human rights,
small business, affordable housing, safety, minimum wage,
affordable health insurance, Patients' Bill of Rights, food and
nutrition services, campaign finance reform, transportation, The
Welfare Tracking Act, womens issues and on many other issues. For
doing the right thing for all of us and for the Earth's
biosphere, Thomas Barrett has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
