US Senator Patrick Leahy from Vermont has a 100%
environmental score for 1999, according the the League of
Conservation Voters. He is ranking member of the Judiciary
Committee and a senior member of the Agriculture and
Appropriation Committees. He also sits on several Appropriations
subcommittees. In addition to his recent sterling environmental
record, he introduced the Innocence Protection Act of 2000 which
will markedly reduce the large number of innocent people who are
executed in the US if it passes and he has an impressive
progressive record on medical issues, human rights, the internet
and other technology issues, landmines, privacy issues, copyright
issues, press freedom, the people's right to know, agriculture,
organic farming, gambling, women's issues, judicial nomenations,
drug issues, foreign relations, education, labor, small business,
health insurance, PAC money, children's issues, tobacco issues,
campaign finance reform, dreams of the future and on many other
