Congressman Bob Filner of California's 50th district has a
100% environmental score for 1998, according to the League of
Conservation Voters. He is a member of the Veterans' Affairs
Committee, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and a
member of the Progressive Caucus. He has a Bachelor's Degree in
Chemistry, a Masters Degree in History and a Doctorate in the
History of Science. In addition to his recent sterling
environmental record, he has an impressive progressive record on
civil rights (he joined the first Freedom Rides and was
imprisoned for several months in Mississippi), human rights,
affordable housing, job development, education, bureaucratic
waste, community policing, transportation, veterans, medicare,
health care and insurance, defense downsizing, tax fairness,
women's issues, homeless issues, economic justice, drugs, foreign
policy, labor issues, seniors, hate crime protections and on many
