FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 12-4-99

Martha Ojeda is the Executive Director of the Coalition for Justice in the Maquiladoras which is a group of 150 union, religious and community organizations from Canada, Mexico and the U.S. They fight against unjust working and living conditions along the Mexico-U.S. border. These bad conditions are exacerbated by corporate-sponsored organizations like NAFTA and the WTO. Martha and the Coalition fight for better living standards, for democracy, for the environment and for the rights of their people who are denied decency by corporate oligarchies and by the corporate dictators which are called CEOs. For doing her best to bring labor justice, decency and environmental justice to the more than 4000 maquilas in Mexico, Martha Ojeda has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
