Congressman John Conyers of Michigan's 14th district has a
79% environmental score for 1997/1998, according to the League of
Conservation Voters. He is the second most senior member of the
House, is the Democratic leader of the House Committee on the
Judiciary, is the Dean of the Congressional Black Caucus and is a
member of the Progressive Caucus. In addition to his good
environmental record, he has an impressive progressive record on
worker's issues, justice issues, peace, foreign policy, human

reform and boondoggle weapons (Star Wars, etc.), more responsible
anti-drug campaigns, Veteran's Administration, National Voter
Registration Act, Chief Financial Officers Act, Martin Luther
King Holiday Bill, Alcohol Warning Label Act, anti-racketeering
law, Civil Rights Act, affordable housing, science and technology
