Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton of the District of
Columbia had her voting rights and the congressional voting
rights of the citizens of Washington, DC taken away by the
Republican-dominated congress. She is still able to write and
introduce legislation and is one of the top members of congress
in the number of bills she has introduced. She is on the
Executive Committee of the Progressive Caucus, the Executive
Committee of the Democratic Study Group, was elected co-chair of
the Congressional Women's Caucus and is a member of the
Congressional Black Caucus, Congressional Arts Caucus,
Congressional Diabetes Caucus and the Environmental and Energy
Study Conference. She is probably responsible for sponsoring, co-sponsoring
and passing more progressive legislation than any other member of
the House. She is also a tenured professor of law at Georgetown
University and a nationally-recognized writer and civil rights
