Congressman Major Owens of New York's 11th district has a
100% environmental record for 1998, according to the League of
Conservation Voters. He is also an officer of the Progressive
Caucus. In addition to his recent sterling environmental record,
he has an impressive progressive record on children's issues,
education issues, civil rights, corporate issues, labor issues,
tax justice, trade issues, racial and ethnic issues, family
issues, library issues, technology issues, immigration issues,
sexism issues, police brutality issues, community and social
issues, campaign finance reform, election reform, tobacco issues,
war and peace issues and on many other issues. His poetry and
