Jack Reed, US Senator for Rhode Island, has a 100%
environmental rating for 1997/1998 according to the League of
Conservation Voters. He did the right thing for protecting
federal/local environmental laws/regulations, for keeping public
land public, for seeking to reduce subsidies on environmentally-destructive
mining, for seeking environmentally-healthy mining reform, for
seeking to prevent military destruction of wild and scenic areas,
for environmentally-sound siting of a nuclear waste dump, for
international family planning aid, for parks, for ending Forest
Service road building, for American Heritage River Initiative and
against a boondoggle water project. For doing the right thing on

rights, on labor issues, on education issues, on health issues,

family issues, on transportation issues, on gun issues, on civil
