FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 9-5-98

Better

Grethe Cammermeyer is running for the 2nd Congressional seat in the State of Washington which is currently held by conservative Republican Jack Metcalf. Her views on the major issues of the day are uniformly good: accessible and affordable health care, expanded Medicare coverage, safer schools with higher standards, strengthening social security, expanding the rights of workers and their families, protecting human rights for everyone and protecting the environment. Metcalf, on the other hand, has a dismal record on all of these issues. Grethe is a retired Army Col. who won the prestigious Bronze Star for Meritorious Service at an evacuation hospital in Vietnam. She wrote the book Serving in Silence with Chris Fisher The book was made into a TV movie starring Glenn Close who won an Emmy for her role. For being the most compassionate and loving person a human being can be and for attempting to make a difference in Congress, Margarethe Cammermeyer has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
