FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 8-1-98

David Brower is one of the best environmental rescuers and one of the most charismatic and influential environmental leaders of the 20th century. He is affiliated with hundreds of environmental organizations. He founded Friends of the Earth and Earth Island Institute. He was instrumental in rescuing the Grand Canyon, Kings Canyon, the North Cascades, Point Reyes, Redwood National Park, Dinosaur National Monument and others. He helped start the League of Conservation Voters and did great work with the Sierra Club. He knows that we will not be saved if we do not save the environment. He wants there to be a National Biosphere Reserve System and a World Ecological Bank. He is a great speaker and writer. He gives of himself and he gives of his money.
