U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski from Maryland has a 100% pro-environmental
rating for 1997, according to the League of Conservation Voters.
She voted no to paving parks and wildlife refuges, yes to reduce
Forest Service road building, yes to reduce subsidies to
environmentally-destructive mining operations, yes in favor of
the American Heritage Rivers Initiative, no to protect the
environment from a boondoggle water project, no to hazardous
siting of a nuclear waste dump and yes in favor of international
family planning aid. For doing the right thing for the
environment, for helping more women to be elected to office, for
helping women gain better health care, for helping prepare the US
for the future, for helping working people and for doing the
right thing on a wide range of other issues, Barbara Mikulski has
