There is no objection to a powerful person or corporation exerting power in the cause of bettering the people as a whole, life as a whole and ecosystems as a whole. But when power is exerted to benefit a very few by impoverishing very many people and very much of the environment, it causes great damage to society and to ecosystems. Unfortunately, the majority of rich people and rich corporations are hell-bent on this latter, very irresponsible course of action. Too many corporations are hung up on the CLP syndrome (Cheapest Labor Possible) and the THWEE syndrome (To Hell With the Environment & Ecology). This results in sweatshops, subhuman wages, subhuman education, human misery and terrible damage to today's and tomorrow's ecosystems. The big wheels are irresponsibly stripping their own gears, poisoning the future and causing great unhappiness among the poor masses of the world. We are killing the future to enrich a few cannibalistic predators of people and the environment.
We need to raise the minimum wage all over the world, put into law a maximum salary of 100 times the minimum wage, have a 50% tax of the incomes of the very rich with no loopholes whatsoever and put all major ravishers of the environment in jail if they don't install pollution control and environmental restoration systems by the end of the year 2000. And thus have a society where happiness flows from good work and pleasant leisure, not from killing our ecosystems and poisoning our people.
