The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

The Earth from Space (61K)*

Being a scientist, nearly all of this web site is devoted to either science or theology. However, I recognize that many of you are not interested in a scientific explanation of God's existence. In fact, the Bible says that the creation itself declares that God exists and cares for us. Nothing exhibits God's care and majesty better than the Earth itself. If you are browsing with images off, I encourage you to load the image above, since it can demonstrate this much better than my description. The above image is 61K, but well worth the wait for it to load. As a planet, the Earth is the most beautiful planet we have seen to date, with its deep blue oceans, white clouds, and green and brown continents with snow-capped mountain ranges. It is a masterpiece of colors - truly demonstrating the handiwork of God. One can look at the picture and think of it as a geography lesson, with the artificial national boundaries missing. One can look at it and marvel at the abundance of life, even as seen from afar. The perspective of this view is significant since it shows the locale of humanity's origin and original civilization. Even though mankind has altered the surface of the Earth, even our presence on the planet disappears at this scale, with only the glory with which it was created being seen. I see it as the artwork of God on a canvas that should have been dry, barren, and lifeless like our sister planet, Venus. The Earth is a truly marvelous world brought about by a truly marvelous Creator.
