2.1 Overview

|
Basic components of the system are:
Line filter
- used for compliance with EMC rules and guidelines
Commutating reactor
Line supply infeed modules
- generate the 600V DC intermediate voltage and the electronic modules supply voltages (5V, 15V, 24V).
Drive modules - supplied with 600V DC from bus bar, generate voltage for controlling the motor.
Additional modules: (only when required):
Monitoring module
- used when the infeed module cannot supply all drive modules with voltages for the electronics modules (5V, 15V, 24V).
Pulsed resistor module
- mainly used to avoid over-voltages on the DC link when infeed module does not enough regenerative power.
Capacitor module
- mainly used to maintain longer the voltage on the 600V DC link.

2.2 Infeed modules

In order to generate the power for the DC link (intermediate voltage) two module types are used:
The infeed/regenerative feedback module (I/R module)
I/R modules and HF/HFD commutating reactors form the step--up converter (7 kHz) for controlling the DC link voltage and enabling a regenerative feedback.
This module is used for the following applications:
Machines with high dynamic requirements placed on the drives
Frequent braking cycles and high braking energy
Control cabinet designs optimized for low operating costs
The module for the unregulated infeed (UI module)
For the UI module, when the motor brakes, the drive energy injected into the DC link is converted into heat in the braking resistors and dissipated to the environment. These braking resistors are either integrated or mounted. When required, one or more additional pulsed resistor modules (PR modules) can be used within the limits specified when engineering the system.
This module is used for the following applications:
Machines with few or short braking cycles, low braking energy
Drive groups with limited dynamic demands, in particular for the main spindle drive
