Las Vegas Meeting ----  Social Hour

On September 9, 1997, the traditional CACS Social Hour was held in the
Aladdin Hotel at 5 P.M. during the ACS meeting in Las Vegas.  About 60
people attended.  This is fewer than the normal over-100 people
attendance, because of the general low attendance by Chinese American
chemists in Las Vegas.  Inspite of it, the Social Hour was quite
successful.

Dr. Norman Li, the newly elected Chairman of Board, gave some opening
remarks about CACS.  Departing from previous format, Norman invited
virtually everyone present to tell the others something about
himself/herself and make some comments.  This personal approach allowed
everyone there to get to know each other more and increased the warmth of
a social gathering.  As a result, several people joined CACS as new
members.
