When should I visit GRU?

Well, here you will find the answer for the above questio. The succes of a Spotter Trip is based on many factors, such as:

THE WEATHER

The best time to make a Spotter Trip to São Paulo area is from end July up to October's beginning, as the temperatures use to be mild, and it does not rain very often.During the winter months(June-September) the mornings are normally foggy, but after 09:00 local the sun it's shinning. The Winter it's dry, but sometimes it might rain(especialy during June).

From October ahead, the days use to be sunny, and hot, with rain showers very common at the late afternoons.Due to Daylighht Saving Time, during the summer months, light conditioins are good for photos until 20:00 local.January and February are really wet and cloudy months, and good pictures are rather difficult, but not impossible.

Finally, from end March until June, the temperatures are not so hight and the sky takes a very nice dark blue color

THE TRAFFIC

The schedulled visitors are well ditributed during the week, so it's not possible to say that one day it's better than the other.

The morning hours are mainly long-haul international arrivals, with Brazilian airlines flights(VARIG, TAM) and a few Europeans. Currently(Summer/2001), most of the European airlines are doing daylight flights, with arrivals in GRU during the later afternoon, in some cases afert sunset. Also during the morning we have the "American Invasion" with many flights from American Airlines, Continental, Delta and United.Afternoons are normally slow, either on international or domestic traffics, best timming is around 07.00-10.30 and then after 16.00, with some scattered traffics in between.
