Who wouldn’t love to be…
I heard through the grapevine that the theme for the Southern Comfort Conference banquet Saturday night is going to be Southern Belle.
So, I’ve been looking all over to find a Southern Belle gown. My wife and I spend all day Monday driving around looking for costume shops, but all we found was nada.
Then I found out about The Perfect Image. My wife and I went over there as soon as it opened this morning, and Oh my what a wonderland of pretty dresses and gowns !
The shop is owned by a lovely lady named Mary Jordan. No relation to Michael, but just like him she is the best at what she does. And what she does is provide some of the most beautiful wedding gowns and southern belle gowns to the young ladies of Raleigh. She had an entire wall of southern belle gowns and another whole wall of wedding gowns. In addition to all that she had all sorts of dresses and costumes for any occasion.
My eyes glazed over when I saw the smorgasbord before me, and it didn’t take long to find the gown I am taking to
Southern Comfort in Atlanta later this month.
I spent over an hour promenading before the mirror and checking myself out from every imaginable angle. Then,
Mary fitted me and decided what she needed to do to make the gown me.
You can’t
imagine how enormous the crinoline slip is that you wear with it.
I could have rented it for the week at a very nice price, but I stole it for what I paid to buy it. I got the
dress and the slip and the white bag, the hat and white lace elbow length gloves. I may not be the belle of the
ball in Atlanta, but I’ll feel like a million dollars, and Mary Jordan is the reason why !
The best part about The Perfect Image is, of course, Mary and her beautiful dresses, but the second best part is that it is right around the corner from Tanas Day Spa, behind the Red Lobster on Old Wake Forest Road.
This is me smoozing Mary into a sweet deal. To the left are the wedding gowns, all of them very reasonably priced. Mary will alter the gowns to fit you and make any changes you two think are appropriate.
