Summit Off Road's Website Rocker Panel Protectors.. |
Project Objective: I wanted to create something to protect my Monty's rocker panel during off road expeditions while keeping as much of the good looks of the Monty unmodified.
After planning a number of different versions, I happened upon Summit's Rocker Panel Protectors made for Jeep Cherokee's. I decided to use the same basic design and modify it for the Montero.
One key component of the design is the use 1.5" or 2" Hitch Steel. This is the same ultra strong material used to create towing hitches.
I decided to make this a bolt-on design rather than a weld on design so that I could minimize impact on the original vehicle. Plus a bolt on design has the added funtionality of being removable for repairs. |

HI-LIFT & DUAL GAS CAN RACK |
Project Objective: I wanted to create something to hold my Hi-Lift Jack and a 5 gallon gas can. I also wanted to minimize the possiblity of raising the center of gravity while still keeping the same approach and departure angles.
After looking at a number of different designs already available for other vehicles, I decided to go with a design that like my rocker panel protectors would minimize permanent changes to the Monty. |

The design uses an existing plate (used for my mountain bike rack) that mounts behind the spare tire. The Hi-Lift Jack / Gas Can rack mounts to this plate via 1/2" bolt. |

PORTABLE AIR PROJECT |

This design is based on a product called a Power Tank. The reason I don't just go and purchase it is that the Power Tank TM costs about $350. |

I plan on using a SCUBA Tank filled with liquid carbon dioxide for my portable air requirements. These air requirements include airing up after off roading, running air tools, and actuating ARB Lockers (once I get them).
The design utilizes a tank filled with Liquid Carbon Dioxide. I use carbon dioxide because it's an inert gas. 10 pounds of Liquid Carbon Dioxide will inflate up to fourty 32" tires from 15 psi to 30 psi. Each tire takes about 20 seconds to inflate.
Regarding the tank I have in mind, it'll probably be a some type of scuba tank. Something rugged enough to take on the trail. The image here is still just a figment of my imagination, so AGAIN, I haven't built this yet. |

Here's a picture of the Power Tank TM. These puppies again cost $350 for the tank and a mount. A bit steep for me. |

I plan on mounting my tank by strapping it on a piece of plywood. I'll probably not mount it like I illustrated in the picture above. FYI, the image on the picture is not an actual tank mounted. It's just an image of my truck with the image of the Power Tank TM laid over it. |

MONTERO CLUB STICKER PROJECT |
Project Objective: The goal was to create a bumper sticker for the Montero Club. Common themes were to be Fellowship, Tread Lightly, and Keep public lands open. I wanted the sticker to also reflect the beauty of the Montero. I chose 2 sizes... 4x6" and 11x3".
I've also taken the Liberty of showing several other designs. They are posted here for voting purposes. If you would like to vote, please select the number the design of your choice and email me along with your contact information (email address). I will tabulate the totals. The email address will be used for verification purposes. Please do not vote twice for the same design. |

PROJECT UPDATE... Voting was completed and sticker #2 won by nearly a landslide.
We're currently sourcing a printer to have them printed.
Please contact us if you can help.
