            I was born on the 22^nd of August 1982 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I’m the eldest from 6 children, with me and my younger brother, Md. Afiq the only boys. During my early years, I’ve lived in various places, including in Yamaguchi, Japan where I stayed for 3 years from 1983 to 1986. 

Currently, my family house is in Bandar Menjalara, Kepong, which is about 10 kilometres from the centre of Kuala Lumpur. We’ve been living here since 1988, except for a 3-year gap (1989-1992) during which we lived in Ipoh, Perak. 

            My father, Md Yusof b Haji Samsuddin, 51, works as an officer in the Co-operative Development Department (JPK) and he is based at the JPK headquarters in Damansara, a township which is only a 10-minute drive away from home. My mother, Rosinah bt Ab. Malek, also 51, is a housewife, looking after my 2 youngest siblings (Nur Nailah, 12, and Md. Afiq, 9). I have three other younger sisters, 2 of them university students (Nur Nadiah, 22, in the University of Malaya (UM) studying Biodiversity, and Nur Nazihah, 19, a medical student in Volgograd State Medical University, Russia) while another (Nur Nadrah, 16) is a student in Tengku Abdullah Science School (SEMESTA), Raub, Pahang.  

            I love sports, especially football and rugby. I can play a bit of volleyball, hockey, basketball, badminton and sepak takraw. I’ve also represented my previous school in chess, so I think I’m quite good in it as well. In athletics, I have never missed to compete in track events during my school’s Annual Athletics Meet. I was once a good runner in the 400 and 800 metres events, giving the eventual champions a very good run for their money. However, until today, the event that I loved most in athletics is the 4 x 400 metres relay. To be honest, I prefer team sports to the individual ones because they initiate team building and cooperation, an essential value for everyone.
